Walshs Glass is led by a highly experienced team of industry professionals – each committed to delivering exceptional customer service while providing mentorship to the glazing experts of tomorrow.
Established in 1971 by John Walsh, together with his business partner Brian Waters, Walshs Glass initially specialised in replacement glazing, shower screens and security. From humble beginnings in John’s backyard shed, to their first factory in Willetton and their current state-of-the-art factory facility in Canning Vale, Walshs Glass has grown to become the largest flat glass processor in Western Australia.
In the early 1990s John and Brian invested heavily in technology installing the first Intermac CAD & CAM (CNC) Machine in Australia. This was closely followed by a Tamglass toughening furnace and at the end of the decade their first Lisec cutting tables. This investment paid off, with the business breaking all existing sales milestones in June 2000 and surpassing the 100 employee mark in 2001.
In 2003, having established Walshs Glass as WA’s leading glass supplier, John and Brian made the difficult decision to sell the business. In July 2003 Darryl Black and DBSJ Investments took over Walshs Glass with a vision to lead the company into a bright future.
Over the next five years following the acquisition, a new round of investment was made into the capacity of the manufacturing process. This included installing A+W software, two factory relays, automatic crane loading, laminated cutting tables, IGU line, KSR arris line and further upgraded CNC machinery.
In this same decade Walshs Glass exited the retail industry, closing all their retail locations to focus exclusively on trade and the commercial glass industry.
A refreshed brand in 2010, saw Walshs Glass take the look and feel of the business well into the 21st Century. Technology improvements in double-glazing, customised laminating and digital printing paved the way for the Company’s biggest month in the commercial area, where new sales milestones were once again reached in December 2015.
The next few years saw achievements with iconic major projects, including the Shell Petroleum office in Perth and the prestigious Ritz Carlton Hotel. Walshs Glass’ outstanding work on the Shell office led to them receiving the 2016 Glass & Window Association (GWA) Award for Commercial Project over $750,000.
In 2017 Walshs continued growth saw acquisition of Viridian’s WA Glass processing business – resulting in Walshs Glass becoming the exclusive West Australian distributor for market leading brands Lightbridge and PerformaTech.
2018 saw more awards including winner of the GWA Commercial project over $50,000 for their work with Shape Group and Hassel Architects and GWA Bespoke Project Under $10,000 for their work on PS Structure’s lift glazing.
In 2021 the Walshs Glass team are keeping their focus on innovation with upgrades to their furnace and the introduction of new technology in edging. Customers continue to receive exceptional service backed by the knowledge and expertise that 50 years in the industry brings and the confidence of being supplied by Western Australia’s experts in glass.
It’s no coincidence that Walshs Glass has been WA’s leading glass company for over 50 years.
The Walshs workforce is the reason we are as successful as we are – and we are immensely proud of our team which has now grown to over 100 dedicated and passionate industry experts.
